The Production and Presentation grants assist individuals with production-related expenses necessary for a project.  This project must be completed two years after the grant has been received.  This grant does not exceed $20,000.

The Research and Development Grants supports projects at early stages of early formation, such as travel, documentation, materials, supplies and other developmental processes before your project.  This grant does not exceed $10,000.  The Research and Development Grant must be completed within one year.

This grant requires a two-step application process, the first one being the Inquiry Form.  After the Inquiry Form, candidates will be notified for an invitation to submit a Proposal Form.

The Graham Foundation is looking for projects that have originality, potential for impact (creates a contribution for the public), feasibility (realistic goals, timeframes, work plans, and budget), and capacity (your qualifications, knowledge and thorough research to carry out the project).

Both grants require extensive application through their online platform.  You must register through their website in order to complete the application.

Stage one / the Inquiry Form requires:

  • Standard information (name, contact info)
  • Grant history
  • Grant Logistics
    – Description
    – Budget
    – Expenses
  • Project Statement (essay) regarding it’s overall impact.
  • Biography
  • Work plan and timeline
  • Details of the project location (venue), or public space.
  • *Expected goals and outcomes of your research – Research and Development Grant ONLY
  • References
  • Work samples (images and image list)

Stage two / the Proposal Form comes after the inquiry forms are reviewed and will receive an invitation to submit the proposal form.

My advice to you for this application is to be incredibly thorough for this specific application.  The more precise, organized details you can provide, the more likely you will be able to receive this grant.   Don’t forget to review the Grant Writing Resources page for other tips for successful grant writing.
